Thousands in South Sudan Face Starvation Amid Nile Blockade
Thousands of civilians in South Sudan's Upper Nile state face starvation after the government blocked aid groups from using the Nile River to deliver relief food, aid agencies said Friday.
The Nile is a transportation lifeline in a country with few all-weather roads or airstrips, but it currently forms the frontline in Upper Nile between rebel forces on the west side and government forces on the east.
Violent Tribal Clashes in South Sudan
Scores of young people and government soldiers were killed in violent clashes between armed tribal groups in South Sudan, said a minister.
The casualties took place in Yambio, capital of western Equatoria state, on Saturday, said Information Minister Charles Kisanga, who did not give a specific number of victims, reported Xinhua.
The clashes prompted panic among the people in the city, and forced a majority of them to flee to a nearby United Nations mission base.

A war torn country which boasts as the worlds most wretched nation. A nation landlocked and surrounded by enemy states. A country with no natural or artificial resource. The worlds newest nation…..and yet the worlds worst sovereign state. South Sudan, the nation that is just to recover from decades of conflicts and wars and yet under more such experiences.
Sickened and under-fed children, kwashiorkor is a common plague, hunger, child-army, abuse of women, under fed pregnant women, child marriages, neglection, all these vices are common to this unknown world. So much to be done but nothing is done.
South Sudan Ratifies Child’s Rights Treaty
Sudan government has ratified the universal Convention on the Rights of the Child making the war torn nation the world’s 195th to criminalize the abuse of children`s rights.
The constant wars and the subsequent internal conflict in South Sudan have majorly affected children who are on many occasions conscripted to combat ranks by both sides of the conflict.
Last month, a rigorous effort by the United Nation`s body responsible for children, UNICEF led to the release of about 500 children from different armed groups to their families.

Children raped, castrated, thrown into fires in South Sudan: UN
Warring forces in South Sudan have carried out horrific crimes against children, including castration, rape and tying them together before slitting their throats, the UN has said.
“Survivors report that boys
have been castrated and left to bleed to death… girls as young as eight
have been gang raped and murdered,” UN children’s agency chief Anthony
Lake said in a statement released earlier this week.
“Children have been tied together before their attackers slit their throats… others have been thrown into burning buildings.”
